Version 2.1Updated 8/23/2026← Trust Center

Purpose & scope

World AI Governance (WAIG) Foundation ("we", "us") explains how we process personal data when you use waigfoundation.org, Academy learning, membership, donations, partner portals, events, and related digital services. This policy is written for public transparency as a not-for-profit mission organisation.

Who we are

WAIG Foundation is a global not-for-profit AI advisor and advocate advancing governance, audit, assessment, testing, and certification for public benefit. Fees from training and certification fund capacity building and faculty — reinvested in the mission, not commercial profit.

Data we collect

Depending on how you engage with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact details (name, email, organisation, phone)
  • Account and authentication metadata (including SSO object identifiers where used)
  • Programme registration, enrollment, and learning progress
  • Donation and payment references processed via payment providers
  • Support correspondence and form submissions
  • Cookie and similar technology preferences as described in our Cookie Policy

How we use data

We use personal data to:

  • Operate programmes, Academy courses, membership, and events
  • Authenticate users and protect accounts and platforms
  • Provide support and respond to enquiries
  • Meet legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations
  • Improve accessibility, security, and public-interest content

We do not sell personal data.

Lawful bases & stewardship

Where applicable we rely on contract performance, legitimate interests balanced against your rights, consent (for optional cookies/marketing), and legal obligation. Programme data and sensitive workloads may remain in participant-controlled or region-specific environments when configured for sovereign deployment patterns.

Sharing

We share data with processors that support hosting, email delivery, payments, analytics (only when consented), and security monitoring — under contracts that limit use to our instructions — or when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purpose collected, programme obligations, dispute resolution, or legal requirements, then delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including India DPDP and other applicable laws) you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or information about processing. Contact privacy@waigfoundation.org. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling requests.

Security

We apply layered controls including TLS, access management, logging, and secure development practices. Report suspected vulnerabilities to security@waigfoundation.org.

International transfers

When data is transferred across borders we use appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law and programme agreements.

Children

Our public sites and programmes are directed to professionals and adult learners. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 without appropriate authority.

Updates

Material changes will be published on this page with an updated version number and date.
